New Release Spotlight! EDGE OF HUNGER by Guest Blogger Rhyannon Byrd
Anticipation…
Sweet, nerve-wracking anticipation. Stress…excitement…and spine-tingling expectation as I’m sitting on the edge of my seat, unable to turn off the computer. When was the last time I slept through the night? The dark smudges under my eyes say more than a few. Do I constantly scour the internet, searching for new reviews? Far more than I should. Am I driving my family insane? Without a doubt. And why all the madness, you might ask? This is the week that EDGE OF HUNGER, book one in my new PRIMAL INSTINCT series, releases from HQN Books, and I’m as caught up as ever in the thrill of the moment.
I’m always bursting with excitement when I have a new book coming out. It’s a natural reaction after putting so much time and energy into something that’s such a personal creation. But waiting for the release of EDGE OF HUNGER has eclipsed all the other “waits” that I’ve experienced. Maybe it’s because the book’s dark, ruggedly sexy hero, Ian Buchanan, is one of my all-time favorites. Or maybe it’s simply because I wrote the series during one of the craziest years of my life. I wrote on packing boxes and planes as my husband and I moved our family moved from Arizona to England. I wrote in hotel rooms…in hospital rooms, and even on the floor as we waited for furniture to arrive. Although it was often frenzied and chaotic, it was a fascinating time of change, and I think I poured a lot of that emotion into the pages of this series. It encompasses more blood and sweat and tears than anything I’ve ever written, and I can honestly say that it holds a truly special place in my heart because of that.
Now that EDGE OF HUNGER's official release is finally here, I’m beyond thrilled to be sharing these dark, provocative, deeply romantic stories with you. And I’m delighted to be able to say that the first trilogy in the series is releasing back to back! Saige Buchanan’s story, EDGE OF DANGER, will be available May 1st, followed by EDGE OF DESIRE on June 1st, which is Riley Buchanan’s story. As the primal blood of an ancient race begins to awaken within the Buchanans, their carnal, demanding hungers will push them to the edges of their control, taking them on a dark, seductive journey into a world filled with unspeakable evil…and dangerous, insatiable desires. I had the time of my life writing these books, and truly hope that readers will fall in love with the Primal Instinct heroes as deeply as I have. I was also given the wonderful opportunity to write a prequel to the series, a novella titled EDGE OF CRAVING, which is now available in e-book at www.eHarlequin.com, and am already hard at work on the second trilogy in the PRIMAL INSTINCT series, which will release in the spring of 2010.

Guest Blogger Chris Marie Green Talks About Her Latest Release, A DROP OF RED
A new Underground, a new adventure for Dawn Madison and the vampire hunting team!
Last time, Dawn and her friends brought down the Hollywood community of vampires, but now, in book four of the Vampire Babylon series, there’s a new threat, and it’s in London.
I have to say that this is some of the most fun and interesting research I’ve ever done for a book, because I actually took a trip to London in order to choreograph scenes, brainstorm the story, and record many details that I put to good use in the pages of A DROP OF RED (as well as books five and six, THE PATH OF RAZORS [8/09] and DEEP IN THE WOODS [TBA]). Here are a few highlights that you’ll find on March 3, when A DROP OF RED hits the shelves…
Bleak, gothic, gorgeous. Perfect place for some vamps to be lurking, yes?
Kingswood School
Here’s a haunted house in St. Albans, the city where I decided to locate the new home of the vampires. Things like the architectural quirks you see here really allow a place to come alive. Haunted House in St. Albans Crossbones Graveyard
Crossbones Graveyard in Southwark, across from the new headquarters for the vampire hunting team. I knew I had to use the building across the street because of its proximity to this cemetery, which boasts cards, ribbons, and other mementos on the gate because people often go there to remember the people (and prostitutes) buried in this unconsecrated ground. To read about more of my trip, click here to visit my blog!
And for more information about the series, check out www.vampirebabylon.com. There’s even a link to a contest, where I’m giving away this gorgeous print:
Happy Hunting,
Chris Marie Green

Something Happened on Election Day by Greg Logsted
Wind it up… keep winding…listen to the strange music…keep winding…wait for that Jack to jump out of his box, getting closer…any second now…click…boing…presto! Here’s my Jack in the box. Here’s my very first blog ever!
Hard to believe, isn’t it? It seems like everyone blogs about something even if it’s just about that new shirt they bought at the mall. So I’m a bit behind the blogging masses. I’m also a little nervous too, but that doesn’t really matter. I’m safely hidden behind my computer monitor. It’s the best mask I’ve ever worn. My name’s Greg Logsted, and Pamela Harty has graciously offered me this space to plug my very first book. Thank you, Pamela.
My first book, the YA novel SOMETHING HAPPENED, is being published by Simon & Schuster Pulse and it’s due to arrive in a bookstore near you on November 4, 2008. Yes, that’s right – Election Day. I’m reasonably certain that the election will greatly overshadow my release date but it does give me the opportunity to put these two thoughts together: SOMETHING HAPPENED and ELECTION DAY. Now just think…something happened on Election Day, and then repeat it over and over again until it gets hopelessly stuck in your head. Something happened on Election Day, something happened on Election Day…
Now the original title for SOMETHING HAPPENED was supposed to be Sock Puppets in Love. Sock Puppets in Love on Election Day just doesn’t seem to have the same earwig quality to it, does it? So change is good, isn’t it? Now why does that sound familiar? Anyhow, I really did like the original title; unfortunately it didn’t reflect the content of the book. The whole sock puppets theme sounds very whimsical, almost comical, which created a problem considering that this is basically a serious novel. SOMETHING HAPPENED is the story of thirteen-year-old Billy Romero five months after his dad’s unexpected death. Billy struggles to make sense of the loss of his father. His friends expect him to move on but he just can’t. His mother is struggling with work and the loss of her husband leaving Billy basically on his own. No one seems to understand how alone he feels…except his new English teacher, the young and beautiful Miss Gate. She offers him the support and friendship he craves. It’s a little weird but it’s also kind of exciting that someone like Miss Gate wants to hang out with him. But the closer they get, the more Billy wonders what kind of friendship this really is.
I have absolutely no idea how my novel is going to affect the election. My suspicion is that it’s not going to affect it at all. But it sure would be nice to see a copy of my book under Barack Obama’s and John McCain’s arms as they walk into their hometown voting booths. Do you think that’s possible? Hey, you never know. That’s what I always say before buying a lottery ticket. You never know, except…sometimes you do.
All I can say is: a kiss is just a kiss but remember this – SOMETHING HAPPENED on Election Day.
