Recapping Deidre's Travels
As many of you are aware, Deidre has just returned from a 10 day travelling whirlwind. In the midst of her journeys, she attended the Surrey Writers Conference in Surrey, British Columbia and spoke on the agent/author relationship. Then she was off to St. Louis to attend the Walden Books Regional Managers Convention. Among about 30 authors, she met up with TKA clients Lauren Baratz-Logsted, Gena Showalter, and Lauraine Snelling for the activities. While rubbing elbows with all the right people, she found time to conduct her first book signing for PARALLEL ATTRACTION (only available right now as an ARC: Advanced Reading Copy). Check out the pics below!
What a pretty ARC cover and author... ooooo ahhhh....
Okay here she is sitting nex to Jim Butcher, and a little bird told me that he was a hoot to sit beside. Way to go Deidre on your first sucessful signing! You know what they say...practice makes perfect!

Awww, look at that smile! I'm all verklempt... What a fabulous moment!
Sitting next to Jim Butcher? What FUN!!!!
You look like you're having an awesome time, D. And who could blame you?
Sell! Sell! Sell!!!!!! :-D
Awwww D, that's a great picture! So how did it feel sitting on that side of the table?
I can't wait to get an autographed copy of PA! *grin*
Yay on your first signing, Deidre! Isn't it cool to actually see your baby in print, even if it's an ARC? Bet you had to keep a cloth handy to blot away the drool when people came by and admired your cover!
You look great! Does the whole "author" thing feel real yet? I mean, not only do you have a printed copy of your book but you had your first signing! How cool is that?
Congrats!! I cannot wait to read it!!
Sounds like a great life! You looked like you were having a ball. :)
Major congrats!
Congratualtions.
Sounds like you had a wonderful time.
Wow, Jim Butcher, huh?
I just discovered him. Love his books...and the Harry Dresden character. I've read 6 books so far.
Glad to hear he's nice. Makes me glad I'm reading his books.
Soon, I hope to read Yours!
Ohhh, a book signing!!! How fun!
That looks fabulous! I so can't wait for that book Deidre! I already know it'll be fabulous.
Thanks, gang!! It was a very special night, indeed. The Walden's/Borders folks were amazing. Everyone was so friendly, and yes, Jim Butcher (and his wife Shannon) were great fun during the signing. He has Butchercon coming up, and I allowed that I just don't think Knightcon has quite the same smooth sound to it. They suggested that one day I might have...Deidrecon. Now THAT does have a nice ring, doesn't it?? LOL!!!
I pity the folks who received these signed ARCS as I have a terrible signature, but hey, at least it's mine! :) And the entire "first signing" experience was definitely magical!
It was great seeing some of our TKA crew there, especially meeting Lauren Baratz-Logsted for the very first time (smooches and waves!)
So now we're in the big countdown until publication date--April 4! I'm deep in the midst of writing book two, PARALLEL HEAT. More to come on that very soon!
Thanks again, gang! I've been absent a good bit lately, but life will be much more settled for the next six months. I hope to reopen our question/answer session again soon.
Deidre
Congrats on your first book signing, Deidre! I hear you on the lousy signature thing. I should be a doctor, my siggie's so bad. I blame it on 2 summers of being a meter maid as I worked my way through university. Writing two hundred parking tickets a day will screw up anyone's signature. And then, when the kids were little, I got in the habit of not looking at my signature as I was signing it. I was always looking to see that they weren't running off! Today I still can't look directly at my name while I'm signing it or I screw it up.
Hope you had a great time at the Surrey Writers Conference, too. I'd hoped to attend, but just couldn't swing it. Maybe next year.
Cindy
You look great, Deidre :) Congratulations on the booksigning.
(Totally gloating here that I got a signed copy of Deidre's ARC in St Lou *and* I got to kiss her!)
