Lauren Baratz-Logsted on Emerging Writers Network!
Emerging Writers Network interviews Lauren Baratz-Logsted!!! Gotta read this article. Here's a teaser: Yes, the woman is insane...but in an oh so good way.
Insane? What might draw me to that conclusion about somebody? How about this – Lauren Baratz-Logsted, besides raising her daughter and enjoying married life, besides finishing writing at least two novels this past year, also decided to read, on average, one book per day for the calendar year 2005. That’s right, 365 books. And people look at me like I’m a dog that just showed them a card trick when I mention I might read 60 books this year...

A book a day???? I bow to Lauren's insanity and am way impressed!!! Wow!!!!!!!!
That's insane?
~gulp~
I thought it was normal...
My mother can read like that. She goes through a few a week. There are people who can do this, but I suspect they miss a lot. I tend to be on the opposite end, but I think that's because my mind gets too distracted with my own stories.
"I suspect they miss a lot."
Harrumph.
No, not really and truly, any more than one would assume a fast typist makes more mistakes.
You want to know my resolutions for '06 already, Pamela??? But I haven't even had the requisite Merlot yet! I only have one so far: to be a model client for you and produce works that will only make you proud. OK, if I made you wealthy, that would be good too.
WOW! I can't imagine reading a book a day. I wish I could, but that would mean giving up sleep. Truly impressive.
Lauren...posting to you from San Fran where I spent some time cruising through Borders on Powell Street in Union Square and right at the check out counter on the second floor, top of the elevator, was a huge display with your book on Scarlett very prominently featured. Needless to say, I added it to my purchases. Great exposure!
Congrats...and HAPPY NEW YEAR everyone!
Marley = )
Yeah, insane. LOL
I almost made that same resolution last year. Then I decided I might be a little crazy. What with all the reading I already had to do as an English Lit major! LOL So I just decided to keep track of the books I read in 2005, just to see what I read without any pressure or resolutions hanging over my head. I hit 216. I realized that I was glad I hadn't set that goal for myself because it would have stressed me out and I would have been disappointed at not making the cut.
Anyhoo, point being, I'm happy with what I read and what I met, and I'm glad Lauren's pursuit has led to a book. I only wish I could do the same! Maybe one day. (er..year. )
Marley, what a great New Year's present! I'm frankly shocked that six months after pub date, A Little Change of Face is still getting such nice placing in bookstores. And, of course, I'm pleased too. :)
Tami, 216 is impressive and here's to you writing a book in '06.
