About the Agency and Elaine

Want to know a bit more about our very own Elaine Spencer? How about what she is looking for in a query and more about how the agency functions? Your chance is now live on the web. Here is a pretty thorough interview with Elaine.

What a great interview! Thanks so much for posting the link.

While you're here :?), I wonder if I might ask a question about response times? The Knight Agency website says responses to queries usually take about 2 weeks. If a query (sent to submissions@knightagency.net) has not been responded to within 4 weeks, and a follow-up email has been sent, also without response (after another 4 weeks), is there a way to check to see if either the query or the follow-up was ever received? I believe the website says that all queries will be read and responded to, so I don't want to pester anyone if it really is in process somewhere. At the same time, I wouldn't want to assume Ms. Spencer was just busy, if in fact, the query and follow-up got lost somewhere.

Again, I really enjoyed reading the interview. Any help with the above question would be much appreciated!

Thank you very much for your time.

Thanks for asking my question for me, Kerry :) Mine's been in for a while, too. I've heard the agency has had a blockbuster of a New Year, so I'm sure that's clogged the works a bit, but like you, I was curious. :D

Hey Ladies!!

No worries about "pestering" concerning the queries. I would say that if you haven't heard back from me by this evening, Resend. I don't believe I have anything over 18 days, but today we will work on getting everything caught up to current.

I am telling you we have one heck of a spam filter, and its most likely that your email address is being blocked -

Like I said, wait til tonight and still if nothing, come back here and we will figure out another method!

Okay, I waited until last night, and no response. I sent my original query on 12/31/06, via the web email address, and sent a follow-up letter/query on 1/28/07. Both were addressed "Dear Ms. Spencer," and had the word "Query" in the subject line. Any thoughts? If you like, you may email me directly at (without quotes and with appropriate corrections): " kerryblaisdell at comcast dot net ". Thanks so much for your time!

I'm afraid I've had the same response problem. I sent an email query two months ago and a follow up email 7 days ago.

How do you suggest we get around the lovely spam blocker?

Hi Elaine. GREAT interview. I had a query issue, too, I imagine. I'd originally sent on 2/1/2007. I tried to resend it this morning. Hopefully it will get through this time. I had bcc'd myself last time, and I'm told by my techie friend that bcc's can spring spam filters into action.
