BREAKING NEWS! Jaci Burton lands a two book deal at Bantam Dell and Gena Showalter to shine at MTV BOOKS!!
TKA was hoppin’ this morning as Deidre closed a deal for Jaci Burton. To add to the lively week Gena Showalter also signed a deal with MTV Books. *cheers*
Jaci Burton, “one of Ellora’s Cave’s most popular authors,” has landed a fabulous deal at Bantam Dell with terrific editor, Shauna Summers—only one week after sending out the submission! AND this makes Jaci our 4th author with Bantam Dell. Oh, did I mention it was an auction, too? Yep, 3 houses bidding for SURVIVING DEMON ISLAND with Bantam Dell landing on top!
Here’s her deal announcement on Publisher’s Marketplace: Romance/Women’s Fiction—Jaci Burton’s SURVIVING DEMON ISLAND, the story of a reality show gone awry, where fantasy becomes reality and nothing is what it seems, and a second untitled paranormal romance to Shauna Summers at Bantam Dell at auction in a very nice deal by Deidre Knight at The Knight Agency (World English.)
The excitement doesn’t stop with Jaci though. Gena Showalter also scored a deal this morning for her new young adult novel. Here’s her deal announcement: Gena Showalter's GOTH GIRL, the story of a Goth high school senior who craves individuality, but finds herself in a FREAKY FRIDAY-style universe shift when she enters a virtual reality game where every one else is a Goth and she's just one of the crowd, in a nice deal, to Lauren McKenna at MTV Books, by Deidre Knight at The Knight Agency (world English)
Wow, I can’t wait to read both of these. A spooky romance and a just all around fun novel! Congrats Deidre, Jaci, & Gena!

Do you have unpublished clients or do you only take on published authors? Do you think with the many deals you're making that editors take you as an agency more seriously and you can get deals for unpublished authors that they might not ordinarily get? Do you accept queries from unpublished writers?

The Knight Agency certainly DOES take on unpublished writers. I signed the last week of July and my friend, Janet Campbell just signed a couple of weeks ago.
Just like with a good sales force, you always have to have things in the "pipeline," so I'm sure any agency's life blood is finding and discovering those new talents that are out there and helping to try and get them published.
Definitely check out the submission guidelines and good luck to you!

Everyone who has already answered is dead on--we're always looking for new and unpublished authors! We've made our name by discovering new talent--authors like Karen Marie Moning, Gena Showalter, Cara Lockwood, Diana Peterfreund, Shannon McKelden, Don Piper, Jacquelin Thomas, Jennifer St. Giles, and many more who were unpublished when they first came to us. Right now, we are definitely looking for new voices, so it's a great time to query the agency at submissions@knightagency.net, though definitely check out our guidelines first.
